Music is the art of expressing ideas and emotions in sound forms by using rhythm, melody and harmony through voices and instruments. Music plays a role in everyone’s life. It keeps us busy in spare time and makes life peaceful. Music speaks to the body and mind. Listening to music has proved to be useful in more than just tone and tempo. So dance. Sing. Let it move you.
This Time Around
I thought we would have figured this out by now...

This was a final portfolio piece of mine for school. I spent years trying to write music that was positive, encouraging, and uplifting. Then, I enlisted in the US Army, and I saw how bad the world can be, and now, I write about heartbreak and anger and the like. It turns out, I wonder if there is good left out there. Somewhere. Maybe I'm cynical to a fault.
One More Chance
Who says time heals all wounds?

When this assignment came across my schedule, I instantly knew I had to write this song. My instructor knew just how to focus my vision for this project. Proud is too simple of a word, but somehow I think Mom would feel the same way.
I lost my Mom to suicide in 2002, and that warm September day changed absolutely everything for me. She was like gravity. Mom held everything together. She was my rock--the one person in this world who really understood me. I've never known anyone else who could light the world with her warmth and kindness. She did so much, for so many. She did so much that she had none left for herself. If I could only have five more minutes--one more chance--to tell her what she means to me. I pray she can hear.

Running Late
There's never enough time, and I've miles to go before I sleep.

Eighty summers. Eighty Christmases. Eighty football seasons. Eighty laps around the sun--if you are lucky. I always seem to be running behind, and easily distracted from what really matters.
This exercise in electronica was a blast to produce. I could not get past the idea of sampling a simple vocal scale and turning into an instrument! So I did. Then I wrote an entire song so I could use it. What you hear is the result.

Heliopolis
Heliopolis, the City of the Sun, was one of the oldest cities of ancient Egypt. Ra, the first being, rose self-created from the primeval waters. A place for beginnings.

An early project of mine that challenged me to think further than just my own instrument. It is imperative to remember where we come from. This one of my first steps on this journey.

Blue Eyes
You remind me of someone I used to know.

Another early project of mine. The first one to make it to SoundCloud. The first song I wrote where the music perfectly conveyed the melancholy I was feeling. To say the least, it opened my ears to hear what the music was saying to me--without saying a single word.

Smash Invasions
A trailer for an animated children's web series where musicians must unite to fend off alien invaders who want to turn music against us. This was my first ever scoring and composition project, and I was hooked.
This project has it all--special effects, theme songs, and of course, music to spare for everyone to enjoy. Given this animated short, I had the privilege of writing separate musical compositions within the one project for opening credits, a musical performance for our 'band of heroes', a soundtrack for an alien invader, and finally, an anthem for the good guys to rally behind. From concept to creation to completion--I enjoyed every part of this project.
